What is your background?
Nicole and Bernard are primary school teachers with a combined experience of over 28 years. Bernard is a special educational needs expert with safeguarding, school leadership and nurture experience. Nicole is a creative educator and edtech consultant, working with tech giants, schools and teachers around the world!
What inspired you to start your business?
When we taught together, we both recognised that classroom based needs were rising each year. We wanted to help each other, our colleagues and of course, our pupils. We started implementing some impactful strategies and enough colleagues and friends commented that we could make a business out of what we were doing...and you know what? We just did it!
What problem are you solving?
Our mission revolves around addressing a vital challenge. Many schools are grappling with providing the necessary emotional support and safeguarding whilst answering essential curriculum requirements. Avenues for help often feel sluggish or absent. With needs rising, it's important to us that every child has the best opportunity, tools and skills to thrive. Considering that children spend most of their active hours in school, schools play a pivotal role in crafting a holistic solution for wellbeing. 🌈🏫💪
Who and where are your potential customers?
Any child, teacher or family associated with a school! This year we're targeting our support within UK and ROI before exploring international markets e.g. USA, Canada and Australia
What do you think is the potential for your business?
The education market is projected to reach US$9.55bn by 2027 and we will be real and viable players in this market. With health and wellness being a human and global priority, we aim to be key leaders in this field. We are keen to grow our team with top talent in many different roles so watch this space!
Where do you hope to be 5 years from now?
We want our wellbeing platform, Understanding Me, to be in 20,000+ schools in many different jurisdictions. From America to New Zealand and everywhere in between!
